The new villains in Superman & Lois season 3 are fixing a growing problem with the show’s fight scenes. Right now, Superman’s primary rival in season 3 is Bruno Mannheim, but the show is actually using other characters to challenge the hero physically. Thanks to the schemes orchestrated by Intergang, Superman has already had to fight multiple super-powered opponents.
Unlike the show’s last major antagonists, Chad L. Coleman's Bruno Mannheim doesn’t have abilities of his own, but that doesn’t amount to a break from fighting for Superman. He’s already been tested by three powerful adversaries in the forms of Atom-Man, Onomatopoeia, and now, Deadline. With Mannheim’s experiments continuing, it’s all but guaranteed that more of these battles are to come as season 3’s story continues to unfold.
Superman & Lois’ New Villains Make Clark’s Fights Better Superman’s fight with Deadline in Superman & Lois season 3 demonstrates a striking difference between the current storyline’s villains and his previous opponents. For the most part, Clark’s enemies either share his abilities or boast a very similar powerset. Though their power levels have varied, Anderson, Tal-Rho, his Kryptonian minions, and Bizarro’s family didn’t differ that much from Superman in terms of how they fight, as their primary powers were super strength, speed, and flight. These characters being strong enough to match up against Superman has made for some intense fights, but this tactic has gradually become a bit monotonous. Superman & Lois season 3 changed things up in a positive way by pitting him against Deadline, a completely different kind of opponent.
