Superman & Lois star Tyler Hoechlin has opened up about which Superman suit was his favorite to wear. The live-action Superman actor has a long history with the Man of Steel. Hoechlin first donned Superman"s iconic costume as part of the Arrowverse in Supergirl back in 2016. Then, Hoechlin"s Superman appeared in multiple Arrowverse crossover events and more standalone episodes before getting his own DC series. Superman & Lois" four seasons featured many exciting moments, with Clark Kent donning different suits along the way and fighting foes like Lex Luthor, Doomsday, and more.
At Puerto Rico Comic Con (via @DevsMastani/Twitter), Tyler Hoechlin claimed the Superman suit inspired by the Max Fleischer cartoons was the one that stood out to him.
The Fleischer Superman cartoons were released between 1941 and 1943, defining Superman"s look and adventures in animation for a generation with groundbreaking techniques. It was one of the hero"s first suits. In Superman & Lois, the live-action DC TV show used it as the first suit Hoechlin"s Man of Steel wore, with the costume having been made by his mother, Martha.
What Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman Suit Comments Mean Superman & Lois Gave The Suit A Special Meaning Hoechlin commenting on how the Fleischer suit stood out to him makes sense. Not only is it one of the most iconic iterations of the Man of Steel"s costume, but the actor"s explanation, which touches on how he only wore it a few times in Superman & Lois, shows why it was the one to pop out for him. For most of the series, Hoechlin"s Clark Kent wore the more modern version of the Superman suit with a darker blue and pants instead of the iconic red trunks.
