WARNING: Spoilers for Superman & Lois season 3, episode 1
A DC Comics ape – who isn’t Gorilla Grodd – is confirmed to exist somewhere in Superman & Lois’ world. When it comes to super-powered apes in DC Universe, the biggest that comes to mind is Gorilla Grodd, a character who already has an important presence in The CW’s multiverse as one of the Flash’s villains. Curiously enough, it would seem that Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman has a gorilla villain of his own.
Thanks to The Flash's Gorilla Grodd, a super-powered gorilla looking to conquer the world is far from an unfamiliar concept in The CW’s DC shows. Thus far, both Legends of Tomorrow and The Flash have dealt with the Gorilla Grodd character. Not long ago, it was likely that Grodd himself was a part of Superman & Lois’ world via the Arrowverse, but the show has since made it abundantly clear that it occupies its own Earth now. Having separated itself from the Arrowverse, most of the characters from shows like The Flash and Supergirl – Gorilla Grodd included – are no longer canon to Superman & Lois.
